Video game UI

User interface for a fictional open world RPG video game. Apart of the UI, I designed the iconography and the “painted” inventory items. I am not very proficient at painting in general but I wanted to try my skills in this particular area.

The character was created by Oksana Martyshenko. She allowed me to use her amazing character for this project. Thank you!

The process

I started bringing some ideas and references from other RPG games like The Witcher 3, God of War, Assassin’s Creed, etc. I payed special attention to the navigation elements and the layout in general.

Considering this information, I decided the screens that I was going to design for the project and the distribution of elements in those screens.

Once the layout was right, I collected from the internet a bunch of samurai symbology and japanese art photos for inspiration.
